What we do
We run Forest School activities and outdoor education, offering experiential learning for all. We are available to work in schools, colleges and community groups; with organisations, individuals and families. We aim in particular to encourage those who don’t have easy access to the outdoors to engage and explore. We especially welcome disadvantaged and special needs groups. Forest school is particularly useful for those who struggle in the conventional learning arena and the ‘neutral’ territory of the woodland often plays a key role in breaking down social and psychological barriers.
We are passionate about woodlands and what we can all learn from spending time in the natural world. It is our belief that being in the forest provides a holistic and healing environment.
Where we work
Natural Connection Sussex works both in school grounds and also in beautiful Plashett Wood near Lewes. The site incorporates a main recreational building, with an office, kitchen, classroom and toilets. Also located in the wood we have a large traditional barn to work in with a wood burning stove . Outside we can cook on a campfire, surrounded by the ancient woodland, with fields and ponds nearby.
Plashett wood comprises a 381.2 acre site of Special Scientific Interest, which includes protected private woodland. It is located near Isfield, Lewes, East Sussex.
